Ĭan you help? Particularly with The School, Wolfgang's House etc ? Please Update Us I don't recognize the rest of the locations in the movie, but pretty sure of the Aviation High School being the location which was also sold to and torn down by an investment group. It opened in the mid 50s and closed in 1982.

The school scenes in the first part of the movie appear to be that of my old high school known as Aviation High School in Redondo Beach, California. Drawing out the circuit, he and his friends Wolfgang and Darren set it up, and discover they have been given the basis for a starship. This same location was used in the 1983 movie "Blue Thunder" when Frank Murphy (Roy Scheider RIP) was directing his girlfriend to pick up the incriminating tape. Explorers Synopsis: Ben Crandall, an alien-obsessed kid, dreams one night of a circuit board. For some strange reason, during the 80's Hollywood created kids films that didn't talk down to children, case point, compare the gang of teenagers in. It is (or was) located at 1100 W Alameda in Burbank, CA. I first saw this film in 1985/86 when a history teacher brought in a VHS rental for the last class before summer holidays, we all stopped after school to watch it, that's how good this film is. The Pickwick Drive-In Theater was apparently used as the drive-in. The airport on Adobe Road, was used for a rural setting. The Riverfront at the foot of Western Avenue was also used. Google Mapįilmed in and around Petaluma, Sonoma County, CA using such locations as West Petaluma creek bed, La Cresta Drive, Houses at 9 D Street, G Street, Hillsides of west Petaluma overlooking the city and the Petaluma River. These scenes were actually shot at A Private Residence, located in Petaluma, N. She builds her performance from the ground up, and it works to hold the movie together.Wanna see the real life filming location used for Lori's (Amanda Peterson's) House in the movie? Monroe is played in the film by Theresa Russell, who is still only about 26 years old, and who already has appeared in such landmarks as "Straight Time," "The Last Tycoon" and " Bad Timing." She doesn't really look very much like Monroe, but what does it matter? The blond hair and the red lips are there, and so is the manner, which has been imitated so often, and so badly, that the imitators prove that Monroe was a special case.

The characters are never actually given their real names in the film, but there seems to be little doubt who they're meant to be, especially when Einstein and Monroe work out the theory of relativity together, using a flashlight, a few simple props and some almost perfect dialogue. Grant Roeg that much, and he gives us a fairly realistic film most of the rest of the way. Now comes a film in which almost all the audacity is contained by the premise - that these four most famous figures of the 1950s met during one long night. His " Don't Look Now" still has people trying to explain that Venetian dwarf in the red raincoat, and his credits include at least one good film, " Eureka," that was not quite sure whether it was a dream. Roeg is a master of baroque visuals and tangled plot lines. But imagine, all the same, that long and steamy night and that hotel room, and you have the substance of "Insignificance," which was first a play on the London stage and now arrives as one of the last sorts of films I would have expected Nicholas Roeg to direct.
